(case 1): Reorganisation

Program Manager within an IT-multinational
Program Manager of a group of projects to prepare a big division of an IT-multinational for 'Future Mode of Operations.' The aim was to improve efficiency and service delivery quality worldwide. The total area of program covered the Service Delivery division (Netherlands > 2200 employees). Part of the program was the further integration of parts of two earlier merged companies. The program consisted of 19 different transitions including over 40 (senior) managers. The task also included the definition and 'selling' of the program. The program was accepted by all levels in the company and was taken over by the ‘merging’-partner when the IT-company merged with another IT-multinational.
This case was partly based on a related case:

Reduction of total cost of ownership of SAP systems.
Program Manager of a group of projects to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of SAP systems by reviewing Business requirements, System Architecture and Processes (within the customer, within the service-provider and between customer and service-provider). The program was seen by both customer and service-provider as a 'last resort' to save the (contractual) relationship. Our specialist needed skills both as 'account manager' as well as 'negotiator'. The program ended in success for both parties. Contracts were renewed and the TCO was brought down.
